Jon Scieszka has been writing books for children since he took time off from his career as a teacher. He wanted to create books that boys would enjoy by enticing them with witty humor. He is the author of the crazy best-selling picture books The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and The Stinky Cheese Man. He has received several honors, including mentions on the ALA Notable Book and Publishers Weekly Best Children's Book lists, the Children's Choice Award, and the Caldecott Honor Medal. His original trade chapter book series, the Time Warp Trio, has sold over two million copies. Born in Flint, Michigan, Jon now lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
Time Warp Trio is an animated television series, based on the children's book series written by Jon Scieszka. Produced by Soup2Nuts in association with WGBH Boston, the show airs on Discovery Kids (now The Hub) in the United States and on CBBC in the United Kingdom (it also aired as part of a two-hour Discovery Kids block on NBC until September 2, 2006).
The last first-run episode of Time Warp Trio aired on Discovery Kids on July 15, 2006 (during a marathon featuring six other first-run episodes) and on NBC on September 2 (also marking the end of the Discovery Kids on NBC block).[citation needed] TV.com blogs have stated a new season and a movie should be expected, but there have been only non-committal responses from WGBH, Soup2Nuts, and PBS on future productions.
I first thought of The Time Warp Trio when I was teaching second and third grade. A lot of my kids were struggling with the transition from easy reader books to the more challenging chapter books. The boys in particular, seemed to be having trouble with the most basic motivation 9— finding something they really wanted to read.
