The Siemens SX1 is a GSM mobile phone running version 1.2 of the Series 60 platform for the Symbian OS. It is the first such smartphone from the German phone manufacturer Siemens AG following their licensing agreement with Nokia for the use and development of Series 60. Though unveiled in February 2003 it launched only in December of that year.

Originally slated for an introduction in the third quarter of this year, the smartphone now appears to be scheduled to hit store shelves some time in the fourth quarter. A Siemens spokesman confirmed the Siemens SX1 smartphone to be undergoing additional testing of its software to ensure it is ready for the market, and attributed the delay to this.

We've also received the following procedure, via an anonymous email - we haven't tried this either: To format the SX1, turn off the phone, then press * and # button simultaneously. While holding the keys, press the On button key, then when the phone is on, release the On key while holding the * and # key you will have to wait till the format is finished.
