A medley of traditional Christmas songs with metal undertones makes for one of the best Christmas albums I have ever had the honor of listening to. Halford III: Winter Songs truly displays Rob Halfords vocal abilities combining metal with Christmas and delivering it with such passion that it is truly the must listen to of the season.
The Good: Best metal styled Christmas album to date since Twisted Christmas, shows off Halfords amazing vocal range, first solo album in 7 years, combines traditional Christmas songs with metal undertones very well, some original songs to be found on here both heavy and light on metal, didn’t skimp on the metal, brilliantly crafted, sounds amazing, perfect for Christmas or most any other day of the year, definitely gets you into the Christmas spirit, new twist on old favorites, most notable tracks “Get Into The Spirit”, “I Don’t Care”, “Winter Song”
What a better way to kick off Christmas than by having none other than one of the kings of metal come out with his first solo album in just over seven years. Halford III: Winter Songs is a very metal stylized Christmas album of epic proportions; the likes which hasn’t been seen since Twisted Sisters a Twisted Christmas. Showing his true Christian side with this album, it demonstrates not only his other vocal ranges but that he’s chock full of the Christmas spirit.
Every song off this album is a true classic now in my eyes, and seeing Halford pull off this amazing range of vocals so beautifully makes me wonder why he doesn’t do more of this stuff. He made an amazing Christmas album here and hopefully more people take notice of it, because it surely is an album for Halford fans and metal heads alike who may want an extra bit of metal mixed into their holidays. With notable songs such as “Winter Song”, “I Don’t Care” and his beautiful rendition of “Oh Holy Night”, Winter Songs is an album that is really hard not to like. He took key elements of what he loved about the holidays and twisted into his own creating which turned out beautifully. If you’re looking for something a little different to listen to over the holidays this year check out Halford III: Winter Songs, it will make for the most metal Christmas you’ve had in some time.
