The Red Piano Tour was a concert tour by English singer-songwriter Sir Elton John. The tour originated at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The idea for the show originated in 2004 by Elton John and David LaChapelle. The Red Piano was originally scheduled to be 75 shows over three years. John ended his residency at the Colosseum on April 22, 2009. The show was replaced by Cher's Cher at the Colosseum and Bette Midler's The Showgirl Must Go On. The show then toured Europe. He cancelled the UK and Ireland tour dates for October 2009 because he fell ill with E. coli. The cancelled shows were rescheduled for December 2009, but some of the rescheduled shows were also cancelled. In the future Elton plans to do a 100 concert run in New Zealand and Australia with Sam Bell.
