Okamiden is a picturesque action adventure game for the Nintendo DS. Taking place a few months after the events of Okami, Okamiden will follow the adventures of Chibiterasu – a young sun god who is summoned to protect the land. Following in the footsteps of its parent Amaterasu, the sun-god-turned-wolf in Okami, Chibiterasu takes the form of an adorable wolf pup for the mission ahead. Chibiterasu will join forces with a rich cast of characters to fight off a new threat that has leeched the world of its vibrant color again. Beyond the battles, Chibiterasu and buddies will come to realize their inner potential and accept the kinship that comes with being the children of great heroes and gods.
If there is one thing that the DS handles deftly, it's cell shading. Whilst the PS2 version of Okami's beautiful pastel depth may be out of the DS's reach, the scope its stylus would provide for manipulating the washed out dreamscape of Okami is obvious. A DS version with less emphasis on action and more of a focus on Okami's innovative celestial brush and puzzle sections would tick all of the right boxes for the casual RPG fan.
I managed to download Okami of the Nds version from their site just within minutes, using the accelerated software provided. Unlimited ds download is so good that they have provided everything about ds, lite and dsi downloads in their site. If you have any question, you can email their technical support and based on my experience, they will reply you within hours.
The gameplay is being held under lock and key by Capcom, but it looks like the puzzle solving, exploration and combat of this new game follow the standards set by Okami. The Celestial Brush will be making a return, and naturally it'll be up to the touch-screen and stylus to paint strokes across the world, slashing the screen to attack enemies and doodling circles to make trees come to life.
