When coming close to the Nikon Coolpix P7000 and the Pentax Optio M90, many differences can be found. On the one hand, the Pentax Optio M90 drives 4000 x 3000 max resolution and a 12.1 million effective pixels CCD sensor. By contrast, the Nikon P7000 has a 3648 x 2736 max resolution and a 10.1 million effective pixels which is not as good as the M90. In addition, the M90 supports 5x digital zoom, while the P7000 supports the 4x digital zoom which is less powerful than the P7000. There are also many other different in features about the two cameras.
Additional worth mentioned features available in the Nikon FG Besides P, A and manual modes, the M90 (1/90sec.) setting enables camera use when the battery is drained, and B is for long exposures. The 'M90' setting on the shutter speed ring is the life saving feature. Together with the time exposure 'B' setting, these two settings are controlled mechanical rather than electronically and are independent of battery power. So, just in case you are caught in such situation, just rotate the shutter speed dial to 'M90' and it should work. Sometimes, the 'M90' is also used to solve 'momentarily unstable behavior' of the shutter mechanism. (It sounds better than 'shutter Jam').
