green apophyllite

I know that specimens from India are everywhere these days, but the one factor that everybody need to keep in mind is the fact that the finest crystallized examples of the majority of these mineral species (mostly Zeolites) are found in India. This specimen is a beautiful, large, lustrous, translucent, lustrous, blocky, rich green to white Apophyllite crystal associated with minor Stilbite. It certainly is larger than the majority of Apophyllite crystals I have seen from India, and its attractive form and eye-catching color (virtually all other Apophyllites from other world localities are colorless) make it a great specimen from this most prolific mineral producing region!

Apophyllite is one of the MOST POPULAR zeolite mineral for collectors, and this specimen from Jalgaon, India is an OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE. It is a specimen made up of large GREEN APOPHYLLITE CRYSTALS with WHITE STILBITE. I picked up this beauty from one of the Indian dealers at the TUCSON SHOW this year. I arrived at his room just as he began to unpack some of the most beautiful green apophyllites I have seen in years. He had purchased the contents of the entire pocket, and brought them straight to Tucson. I helped him unwrap the remaining crystals, then set myself to the enviable task of selecting the finest specimens from the pocket. This was one of the best; the combination of gemmy green crystals sitting on pearly white stilbite is absoulutely stunning.
