Everglidem’s DKTBoard Aluminum Gaming Keyboard is a slick new keyboard (albeit an awkwardly named one) from people who know a thing or two about computer gaming. In fact, the keyboard is t“Powered by RazerT” so while it looks like the design was handled by Everglide and pro gamer Brian “DKT ” Flander, Razer had some part in it. Unlike the G15 and Tarantula which are easily recognized as gaming keyboards, thanks to a number of shortcuts keys and sophisticated driver applications that allow for all sorts of custom keymapping and macro creation, the DKTBoard is small and very basic. In fact if it did not have the backlighting illumination and the aluminum strip around the outside it would just be a portable keyboard with a few shortcut keys on top.
The DKTBoard does not include any special drivers or instructions so calling this a gaming keyboard seems like a stretch. Maybe call it a a portable keyboard or a backlit one, but there is very little about the Everglide that will specifically appeal to gamers. That noted, it is built well and using it is more enjoyable than gaming on most laptop keyboards, so that might be a practical application. Additionally, I like it a lot more than the other aluminum keyboard out there: Hipero’s Clavier.
