When I first got my copy of Florida darkwave band The Cruxshadows latest endevor, Dreamcypher, my first thought was that it might be quite interesting. After all, the band has a knack for making songs that you not only want to dance to, but also waste your hard-earned money to see live, if only to see the spectacle of the bizzarely-coifed frontman Rogue climbing the stage with his wireless microphone.
However, Rogue's voice does seem to have a Peter Murphy-like quality to it, which doesn't lend well to songs like Defender . Also, the reason why this band isn't mainstream might have something to do with the fact all of the band's albums start with some hokey little prologue (see Dreamcypher's Pygamalion's Dream and earlier album Wishfire for examples) and even the shortest song is five or six minutes long!

I happen to have an extra, unopened copy of the album and IS’m going to give it to one lucky reader. Those of you attending Dragon*Con, or even those of you who live near one of the cities included on the banda’s recently updated tour schedule, can bring the album to a show and have the band sign it for you. The (far from complete) listing of the band/’s American tour in support of their Immortal single, information on the band, a couple mp3s, and your chance to win a free CXS CD are after the break …
