Wyland Records will release a new original two CD album, Blues Planet, in 2011. With recording sessions slated for New Orleans on the anniversary of the Gulf Oil Spill Disaster, Blues Planet brings together many of the greatest living blues masters and is the follow up to Rhythms of the Sea, a conservation themed jazz album dedicated to the future of our ocean.
All the music is written by acclaimed environmental artist Wyland and performed by more than a dozen of today’s notable blues icons. Blues Planet explores the state of our lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands through the regional blues sounds of Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans, Texas and the Mississippi Delta. Blues Planet will also provide the music for a one-hour documentary film about the Gulf Oil Spill disaster from a new perspective. When released later this year, Blues Planet will be an exciting continuation of the blues tradition and add a new chapter in our understanding our environment and conservation for the 21st Century.
