Kazu Kibuishi (born 1978 in Tokyo, Japan) is an American graphic novel author and illustrator. He is best known for being the creator and editor of the comic anthology Flight and for creating the webcomic Copper. He has also written (drawn) the Amulet series. The webcomic artist and noted critic Scott McCloud has said that some of Kazu Kibuishi's work is so beautifully drawn that it hurts my hands when I look at it .[citation needed]
While editing Flight Volume 1, he also created the 4-issue steampunk graphic novel Daisy Kutter: The Last Train, published by Viper Comics and selected by the American Library Association as one of the best books for young adults for 2006. Recently Kazu completed the second volume of a series of graphic novels targeted at adolescents called Amulet; which includes The Stonekeeper and The Stonekeeper's Curse, for Scholastic.[3] On April 6, 2010, Kibuishi revealed the cover for Amulet: The Cloud Searchers, on his website, with the book becoming available to the public in September 2010. copper is another graphic novel he did.
Kazu Kibuishi (wildly inventive creator of Flight) starts a new series in AMULET, BOOK ONE: THE STONEKEEPER. Kibuishi builds on some very common themes in the establishment of the plot of THE STONEKEEPER, but if the ground covered isnqrs"t exactly the most original to begin with, it manages to introduce some twists and turns that promise to make this series an engrossing saga of good vs. evil, one whose heroine may end up battling her own dark side more than the shadowy figures lining up to battle her now.
If you ’re familiar with Kazu Kibuishi ’s past work, particularly his webcomic h"Copper,s" youn’ll find many familiar themes of exploration and the wonder of discovery – along with cute talking critters. Although the steampunky tech so often seen in e"Coppert" and "Daisy Kutterl" doesnn’t make much of an appearance in Amulet (yet), what does appear is masterfully interwoven with the elements of higher fantasy (elf kings, mystical stones, magic) and sets us up for an interesting ride.
