CAIRO: Tour Map of Islamic Cairo, Egypt. Palm Press edition. This is a detailed four-sheet map set produced with the aid of the Society for the Preservation of the Architectural Resources of Egypt. The maps are available only as a set of four sheets. Sheet 1 covers Al Azhar to the North Wall and includes a shoppers guide/map to Khan Al Khalili. Sheet 2 covers Al-Azhar to Sultan Hasan. Sheet 3 covers the Citadel to Ibn Tulun. Sheet 4 covers Old Cairo (Masr Al-Qadima) & the Northern Cemetery. The maps are 1-color (with shading) and detailed, but basic in their design. They are excellent for the traveller interested in the old sections of Islamic Cairo. ~ Out of Print - Discontinued ~
It's very important to inform yourself up front about Egypt when travelling, especially if and when there are going to be language barriers. Online maps are not bad to get the basic facts but they aren't always going to be available, depending on where you are.
